THE GREAT TRADE

"The Great Trade" is the songwriting partnership of Mullingar musicians Peter Doran and Brian Murphy. Since 2006, Doran has released four solo albums, with 2014's "Outlines" being called "an absorbing, uplifting record" by Hotpress. In the last years, Murphy has toured and recorded relentlessly with Midland's band "Cronin" and released a couple of EPs with the two-piece "Arrow in the Sky".

The first songs of the Great Trade were written when the pair were touring together in Europe in 2013. With the energy of travel and in the time between shows, they found themselves playing with ideas and writing songs mostly for their own amusement. This co-writing process, this trading of ideas was both fun and rewarding, and the resulting songs ended up entirely different than anything either man would have written alone.

The Great Trade are preparing to start work on their debut album this year.

HALLY:

Kildare born artist Hally makes a return to the stables, having last played there in the late 90's. The support act on the night was a young Damien Rice.

At the start of 2017, Hally set out on an ambitious and artistically challenging project called "Peeling Onions", consisting of Fifty Two pieces of Music, an Art Film, a Live Show and a Documentary about the whole journey. The project will run for a full year, it will engage with some of Ireland finest contemporary visual artists and musicians. Peeling Onions is very unique one off project, it is without illusions of limits and genres, it mixes from a pallet that more accurately reflects the full spectrum of human experience; it passes through genres and visual styles but is not restrained by them, as a person passes from experience to experience but is not contained in a single one.

“Peeling Onions” is the brainchild of Kildare-born artist, hally. The idea was conceived when he found himself with a large catalogue of musical and visual material after a 10 year hiatus away from performing and exhibiting. In an effort to purge himself of this backlog he hit upon the concept for “Peeling Onions”.
